Welcome to Port Stanley & Sparta Doors Open
Those of us who live in Port Stanley and Sparta realize how lucky we are to live in two villages with such a rich heritage, and we are delighted to take this opportunity to share some of this heritage with you. Doors Open Port Stanley and Sparta is sponsored by the Port Stanley BIA with support from the Municipality of Central Elgin and many individual businesses in Central Elgin. The effort is organized and staffed entirely by volunteers.
This is the 9th consecutive year in which we have staged a Doors Open celebration. It only happens once a year, and many of the venues on this tour are not open to the public at other times. Please respect the privacy of the owners. At other times of the year you may view the exterior of these properties, but we beg you not to ask for the special tour which you will receive only on September 20.
With many different sites scattered across a relatively wide geographical area, you will need to be selective in deciding which sites you wish to visit. Many of this year's sites can be regarded as old favourites, but we also have several new sites in Central Elgin, the large rural municipality in which Port Stanley and Sparta are situated.
